Three years ago, I opened a pharmacy to meet the healthcare needs of this vibrant neighborhood of the Junction in Toronto. It was a bold move that I do not regret to this day.

My name is Joon Chong and I am a pharmacist and co-owner of Remedy’s Duke Pharmacy.

Soon after graduating from the pharmacy program at the University of Toronto, I purposely joined and worked in all the big pharmacy chains as well as several small independent pharmacies. My intention was to acquire as much experience and learn the many different pharmacy management styles. One thing that struck me out and made me loath to work in those places was the lack of time dedicated to real patients and the lack of personal service. Most of those places were assembly lines rather than a place to practice pharmacy.

This is the reason I decided to go alone.  I believe that being small and independent allows me to be more flexible to better meet patient needs, provides more time to help solve their problems and allows better continuity of care. But most importantly, it allows to cultivate personal relationships which in turn leads to better service. This is a place where I can truly practice pharmacy the way I have been trained.

You often hear people say “I have to see my doctor,” or “I have an appointment with my Dentist.” Isn’t it time for you to have your own personal pharmacist? Someone who greets you by your first name, who knows all your medical conditions,  your medication history, and drug allergies. Being diagnosed with a new medical condition or starting a new medication can be overwhelming at times. But you don’t have to go alone. Rather than relying on Dr. Google, your pharmacist can be there to ease your mind by taking the time to explain things and help you put things into perspective. I have been working in community pharmacy for over 20 years. I am a board certified geriatric pharmacist and certified injection trained pharmacist. Medications is my expertise. But we can do much more than that. Please check all our services to better help you.
